More than 300 people were at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center recently to celebrate the successful 2018 -2019 fund-raising campaign with United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region.

“This is our annual board meeting, as well as a celebration for the campaign that we ran in the previous year,” CEO Valerie Guzman said. “Today we will give out awards for the workplaces, agencies and outstanding individuals who helped make this year's campaign such a success.”

Lunch was served, and several awards were presented prior to the announcement of this year's fund-raising total. The Inspire Award was presented to Anthony Barnett, this year's Partner Agency Director Award went to Big Brothers Big Sisters' Chris Buerck, and in an emotional moment for many, the Ambassador Award was presented to former CEO Ginna Holleman.

2018-2019's Top contributing Workplace was Trane. The company and its employee's giving campaign raised a total of $169,248.48. In all, $1,051,157 was raised to be distributed to worthy programs within the community.

The coveted Ben C. Parks Award was presented to Legends Bank. The award recognizes the company or workplace which has conducted the best overall workplace campaign. Lesa Goder had the privilege of announcing the Campaign Chairs for the 2019 – 2020 Campaign, First Ladies Cindy Pitts and Mary Durrett.

“We fell a little short of this year's goal,” Guzman said. “But, every year is a success, because no matter how much we raise, that money goes to help someone in need, in our community.”
