What is your profession?
I’m a freelance photographer and writer.
What do you love most about your work?
I think the most interesting parts of this business are the freedom that it offers and the daily opportunities for creativity that it provides. Every day is different for me. I'm traveling all over middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky, covering a variety of events, and meeting new people every week. Every situation is unique. But the cool part is that I get to tell people's stories with pictures and words. When people thank me for what I do, that's a good feeling.
What are some of your biggest challenges, professionally?
The weather. And the deadlines! Another challenge is scheduling. There are days when I don't have a single assignment, and then times when I have eight events in one day. But I love the challenge. I tell people that I've mastered the art of being in two places at once.
How long have you lived in Clarksville?
Since I was about three years old.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations?
Personally, my parents and my step-dad are my biggest inspirations. They were all hard-working people of strong character who didn't let me get away with much.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I studied music when I was young, all through middle and high school and into college. I play the drums—not as well as I used to—and I've been teaching myself how to play guitar for about 40 years now. I'm starting to doubt my teacher's abilities.
What's your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate! I have at least one bite of something chocolate every day.
What is your biggest hobby?
I have a few. Being a (wannabe) musician, I love anything to do with music. I collect vinyl records, I have more instruments than I need, and I attend way too many concerts. I'm also a car guy, and I especially love German cars. And, even on my days off, I still love photography.
What's on your bucket list?
My goal is to visit 100 countries, and I'm just about halfway there. I would love to visit every continent, and I have a list of countries that I really want to see.
