No Tiny Romance

Featuring A Tennessee Tiny House

To see the photos and read the reviews of the so-called “tiny house” that claims its very own little patch of earth tucked away near an old farm and tobacco barn in a quiet spot of Clarksville, you’d never assign the fully renovated 1923 farmhouse any other description than charming, and that’s one of the very things that Richard and Shannon Dixon aimed to achieve when they created A Tennessee Tiny House and decided to launch it as a bed and breakfast in 2017.

Working together with local contractor Doug Nail, the Dixons modernized the house just enough to bring their vision of a modern farmhouse to life, making its 900 square feet of indoor space feel open and airy, light-filled and relaxing in a way that would offer a sense of calm and peace in the midst of the city. Clearly, this home is hardly tiny in appeal, and it definitely delivers on romance.

With its full-sized bedroom and bath, living room, kitchen, and dining area as well as a loft with two double beds, the house is certainly not lacking in space—or in amenities, as it also features two deck areas and a fire pit perfect for stargazing around a campfire or watching the slow path of the sun as it rises and sets. It stands to reason, then, with so much on offer, that A Tennessee Tiny House would capture attention when it hit the listings on VRBO and AirBNB. But its rise to fame across the nation has been meteoric, garnering five stars with AirBnB and earning the rank of Superhost, the highest rating achievable; and everyone from lone travellers looking for a unique little escape to newlywed couples on their honeymoon have kept this charming little farmhouse booked for months in advance.

“We love hosting and being hospitable, so we love to find out what the occasion for our guests’ stay might be and then personalize their experience by finding out about things like their favorite snacks and their interests,” says Richard. And what a fantastic experience they provide—especially to newlyweds and bridal parties, as they offer packages designed to cater to the blessed event and make it absolutely unforgettable, filling every last inch of this tiny house with love.
