A Total Eclipse of the Heart
The total solar eclipse on August 22nd, 2017, might have been highly anticipated by millions all over the country as a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, but for Katie McNary and Christian Charlesworth, the day was special for reasons unrelated to the spectacle in the sky. For even though the sun and moon might have been stealing the show, it was Christian who was stealing Katie’s breath—and her heart—when he got down on one knee to propose with a ring whose sparkle rivaled anything in the heavens.
Having met at a mutual college friend’s game night, Katie and Christian clearly shared a love of fun, and when they stood facing one another at the altar on September 22, 2018, at Events at Tranquility in Adams, Tennessee, their laid-back personalities were unmistakably at play. “We wanted something outdoors with a nice view and a really laid-back relaxed vibe, so Tranquility was really the perfect place for us with a gorgeous home overlooking a field with a pond and cows wandering around. That was actually one of the reasons we chose the venue, and they helped us achieve our perfect day!” says 24 year-old Katie, a trainer and the Director of Operations at Prime Fitness Clarksville.
Dressed for her walk down the aisle to Christian, a drum tech, in a strapless white mermaid gown with lace overlay and hair and makeup artfully done by Stacey Trinkle at Amity Salon, Katie was a vision that eclipsed everyone’s hearts; and after the couple said their vows with their guests looking on, the happy crowd dined, danced, and toasted the blessed new union. Having satisfied their hunger with a feast of chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls catered by The Choppin Block—“It was casual but delicious comfort food, which made it a perfect fit!”—the event was sweetened by Katie’s own creation, a four-tier funfetti confection frosted with homemade vanilla buttercream decorated with sprinkles and a cake topper from Etsy. Adding to the sugar rush that fueled the energy on the dance floor and heightened gameplay on the lawn even more, the couple had a custom donut wall that sent everyone off on a sweet high as they made their own escape into a night filled with stars and happy dreams.
