FCSC Farewell for Beth Poppas

Candace Woodbury & Beth Poppas

The Fort Campbell Spouses Club recently hosted a Farewell Party for Beth Poppas, wife of Major General Andrew P. Poppas, who has been Commanding General, 101st Airborne Division for the last two years.

Beth Poppas greeted guests as they entered the party, which was held at Cole Park Commons.

“We have been here since January of 2017,” Poppas said. “We would love to stay longer, but we are moving back to D.C., back to Fort Myer, which is where we came from to be here. We are in that triangle of Fort Bragg, Fort Campbell and Fort Myer. I must say we have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. I have a speech prepared that I will read later tonight, and I'll probably cry because we do love it here. This place is a family to us.”

The facility's main ballroom was packed as Poppas's friends came to say goodbye, prepared for an evening of fun, food, live music and good friends.

“Tonight, we are saying farewell to Beth Poppas,” FCSC President Colleen Murphy said. “They are leaving us after two short years of Maj. Gen. Poppas's tenure as Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division, and headed back to Washington, D.C.

“Beth has been a huge supporter of all things Fort Campbell, especially the FCSC, so her presence will definitely be missed. She has made a lasting impression on all of us here.”
