Having been friends since high school, it might not have been a huge surprise when their relationship turned romantic; but when Zack Baird enlisted the help of their dog, Annie Mae, to propose to Carolyn Fisher on March 5, 2016, the birthday girl got more than she could have wished for when she blew out the candles on her cake—she got a sparkly ring that meant her fairytale was about to come true.

Just over three years later on July 7, 2018, Zack and Carolyn sealed their love in a ceremony at Naimoli Estate, walking down the aisle to the music of a string quartet and exchanging their vows in front of their family and friends as they stood under the gazebo before beginning their celebration in the barn. Wearing a Rebecca Ingram ivory ball gown, Carolyn looked every bit the elegant princess for her Prince Charming—himself dressed a far cry different from the garb he wears in his work as a coal miner—the elegant, vintage-inspired detailing of her dress perfectly matched to the sophisticated charm of their venue. “It was a dream come true, like being at home and having the wedding at home that I’d dreamed of since I was a little girl. The entire team there was such a great help in bringing the day to life, and it was just an extremely special time,” says 27 year-old Carolyn, who spends her days working as a teacher.

Although the couple could have easily lost their cool when the ring bearer’s pillow was temporarily MIA, the rest of their day was all that they could have hoped for, complete with a tasty buffet of Southern food including shrimp and grits, pork tenderloin with apple apricot chutney, beef medallions, Gouda scalloped potatoes, and veggies catered by Artisan Kitchen as well as a delicious naked cake whose layers of chocolate, white, and chocolate swirl could easily satisfy everyone on the guest list. Making it sweeter still, the cake was made by a close friend; and for those looking for a little more variety, there were strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate cupcakes worthy of a good swoon.
