Relay for Life After Party

Organizers and participants in this year's Relay for Life, the annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, gathered at Old Glory Distilling Co. for an after party.

Jenny Goslin is Community Development manager for ACS in Montgomery County. “This year's Relay for Life was a huge success even though the weather took a severe turn and shortened the event by a couple of hours,” Goslin said. “We already exceeded what we raised last year. We have topped $73,000, which is huge. That is definitely where we were wanting to go.”

Goslin says the organization likes to have a fun event as a kickoff prior to 'Relay' and then hold a follow-up event. “The kickoff gives us an opportunity to introduce everybody, welcome new teams, and get everyone excited about our efforts,” Goslin said. “The after party is an opportunity to wrap up this past fund-raising season. We present awards to teams that have achieved various fund-raising levels. We also give awards like Most Spirited Team, and we recognize our sponsors.”

Goslin says it's a time to appreciate what a wonderful event they had. The group will take a short break, then it will reconvene in the fall to begin planning next year's Relay for Life.
