Hundreds gathered recently at the APSU Farm and Environmental Education Center for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly named Brock Blick Animal Science Facility.
After losing their son in a tragic accident, Mark and Jeri Blick established the Brock Blick Endowed Scholarship in Agriculture in July, 2017. Last fall, the family, with tremendous support from the community, created the Brock Blick Fund of Excellence in Agriculture at APSU.
The idea to support APSU's agriculture program was inspired by Brock's love of cows, Mark Blick said in an emotional speech. “From a very early age, Brock was fascinated with cows,” Mark said. “We would be driving down the road, Brock in the backseat, in his car seat, he would see cows and yell out, 'cow'. It was a little startling, to be honest. We've made a special commitment to Austin Peay so his legacy will go on and on forever.”
“I want to make a pledge that will make sure he's not forgotten,” APSU President, Dr. Alisa White stated previously. “You'll always remember him, you'll always have that. But we'll make sure that other people know, not just what Brock did, but the kind of heart he had and the kind of heart his family had.”
