Fort Campbell Spouses Club recently held its annual Kentucky Derby-themed meeting at Cole Park Commons.
FCSC President Erin Walsh took a few moments to talk about the club's work and the activities on tap for the day.
“FCSC holds a luncheon each month, but our annual Derby-themed luncheon is special,” Walsh said. “Everyone enjoys dressing up for this one, especially wearing the Derby hats. We're planning on having lots of fun today, including a hat auction. Then, we'll get down to business. We will be voting on our constitution and on next year's executive slate.”
Club membership is currently at about 160. Sixty members were expected to attend April's meeting. “That's a great number considering how busy everyone is this time of year,” Walsh said. “We also are happy to welcome our recent V.I.C.E. Night sponsor--F & M Bank and some other local businesses. They help us help people in need.”
FCSC raises money throughout the year for its scholarship fund. The club also presents community grants at the end of each year to local organizations like Serenity House and Loaves & Fishes.
