Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation (CMCEF) recently held its annual fundraiser, Vision to Reality, an event that raises considerable funds which benefit the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. Abby Binkley, Executive Director of the CMCEF, talked about what the program does and how much they hope to raise at this year’s event. “We are here to raise about $40,000 that will benefit all of the initiatives and programs we support in conjunction with CMCSS,” Binkley said. The Foundation’s tagline is “We begin where tax dollars end.” Programs and initiatives that the Foundation supports include Great Idea Teacher Grants, STEM Initiatives, CMC Teacher Ware-house, Academic Awards, Career Academies, Student Scholarships, Leadership CMCSS and much more. “Our theme this year is Future Ready” because, that’s what we are doing,” said Binkley. “We are making our students ready for the future. We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we do know that these students are the future of Clarksville and Montgomery County. Everything we can do now to support them is going to improve this community as a whole.” About 300 guests filled the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. They enjoyed bidding on dozens of items in the silent auction, which was followed by dinner, and then a live auction featuring eight very special items. “We have some great items on tonight’s auction block,” Binkley said. “We are also excited to have The Beagles playing for us. We really appreciate the community coming out and supporting us, and we always try to make this a fun time for everyone so that they’ll want to come back and do it again next year.”
