Christian County Chamber of Commerce recently hosted its annual Military Affairs Committee (MAC) Gala at the Hopkinsville Golf & Country Club.
Katie Lopez, Director of Military Affairs with the Christian County Chamber of Commerce, spoke about the MAC Gala and other events that comprise Salute Week.
“We’ve been hosting Salute Week and the MAC gala every year for more than 20 years,” Lopez said. “We are always appreciative of our friends at Fort Campbell, so we put on a full week of events to show out appreciation.”
Salute Week 2017 included a chili cook-off, the Eagle Ambassador Breakfast, a spouses lunch-eon and a tour of homes, among other events. A gala on Saturday of the Salute Week was the culmination of the week’s events.
“Everyone at the gala was sent the address of a pre-gala host home,” Lopez said. “The guests showed up at one of four host homes to enjoy a more intimate setting and anopportunity to get to know each other for a couple of hours before going to HGCC.”
Approximately 200 guests RSVP’d for the HGCC event. They were treated to live music, cocktails and an expansive and decadent dessert bar. Katie Lopez addressed the group, and Brig. Gen. John Brennan also made some remarks.
“This is an opportunity for people from Christian County, Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell to network, mingle, and get to know others in the community,” Lopez said. “Fort Campbell is of huge importance to this community, not only because of its huge economic impact, but also the people behind those numbers. Members of the Military Affairs Committee are passionate about getting to know these people. We are dedicated to serving Fort Campbell soldiers and their families.”
