The Hoptown Summer Salute Festival kicked off, Friday, August 18, in downtown Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The three-day festival is the official Eclipse Party in Hopkinsville. What better way to get people excited for the Solar Eclipse then with a festival? The festival offered live music, fun and games for the whole family. Live music throughout the whole weekend including music from The Jimmy Church Band and American County Music Artist, Tracy Lawrence. The crowds sure were out and ready for a great weekend full of music. There were over 100 vendors with every type of deep fried food you could think of and Solar Eclipse t-shirts, magnets, etc. for all the shoppers to take home. Locals and people from all over the world travelled in this weekend to share the Great Solar Eclipse with Hopkinsville. Fun activities like carnival rides, bouncers, and scuba diving, were all offered to make sure kids had an exciting time. Throughout the weekend there was a 5k race, Sunday morning service in Hopkinsville’s Founders Square, and much more throughout the weekend. Anyone who attended the festival could feel everyone’s positive energy from the various activities and food offered.
Local businesses helped make the event a success but also vendors from out of state traveled in to set up food trucks or tents. Everyone pulled together to make The Summer Salute a weekend to remember. There truly was something for everyone to do during the weekend.
