Beth Nytko and Megan Simpson of the Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville were among the hosts of Cheers for Charity on April 29 at the Sango Event Center. Forty teams competed in a blind tasting featuring wines they brought. Prizes were awarded to the teams that brought the evening’s most popular selections. The annual fundraiser benefits the group’s local service projects. “We do a lot of projects in the community for children,” Nytko said. “For example, we had a gingerbread project during the Christmas holidays where we gave gifts and a holiday meal to children with the Department of Children’s Services. Recently the group helped with expenses and hosted a special birthday party for a local girl battling cancer. They also helped raise awareness for a local student who has Rett Syndrome, a severe neurological disorder. Currently the group has approximately 20 members and will be accepting new provisional members this summer. For more information visit the Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville Facebook page.
