Getting engaged should leave you feeling breathless, exhilarated, excited, and on top of the world…and that’s just how Vicky Bussell felt when Clifton Fludd proposed to her on a summer day in 2001. Quite literally, in fact, as the pair was perched at the very top of a Ferris wheel when Clifton popped the question, making their thrill ride even more thrilling by asking her to go with him on the ride of a lifetime.
Having met while they were both out with their families in downtown Clarksville in late January of 2000, Vicky knew from their very first date that she had found “The One,” and that surety only deepened over the next few months as they continued to date. Tickets in hand for an unforgettable adrenaline rush, the pair took their seats to soar up to heaven, their hearts still flying high when their feet came back to the ground.
Higher yet they climbed 15 years later on May 28, 2016, when Vicky walked down the aisle at the James E. Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville, dressed for the most exciting day of her life in a strapless ivory satin gown that took her groom’s breath away. And with their guests gathered around to watch them vow to forever, Vicky and Clifton handed in their single-admission tickets to life and firmly took hold of their future together.
Later joining their friends and family for some amusement and fun, the newlyweds fed their excitement with a delicious dinner of grilled chicken and baked potatoes before slicing into a three-tiered white buttercream confectionary dream. Around and around on the dance floor they went, laughing and celebrating their way through the night, only coming back down to solid ground to set off for a honeymoon in Gatlinburg. Now residing in Clarksville, the thrill-loving couple is looking forward to staying side by side through ups and downs, boldly taking whatever rides come.
