Pastor Jimmy Terry Monument Unveiling & Dedication

A ceremony was held at McGregor Park recently to unveil a monument dedicated to Pastor Jimmy Terry, a community leader who passed away in 2017, but whose influence will be felt for years to come.

Tommy Bates of Legends Bank talked about the history of the monument project and recognized the individuals who were involved in bringing the project to fruition. He also spoke about Pastor Terry's decades of contributions to this community.

Mayor Joe Pitts spoke briefly, ending his remarks by leading the hundreds who were gathered in a song, as “Pastor Terry himself would have done.” Guests at the unveiling were also treated to a rendition of The Lion and the Lamb, the classic hymn, sung by students from the Youth Choir of Tabernacle Christian School, the school that Pastor Terry and his wife, Servella Terry, founded.

Jimmy Terry Jr. began with a quote from his father: “Whatever I have done, whatever I have said, that glorified my God and was a blessing to mankind, to God be the glory,” Terry Jr. said. “He meant that. He inspired people in this town. When I go downtown and see these local businesses with signs out that say 'Jesus', that's what he wanted to accomplish in this community … Pastor Terry always said, 'Clarksville is a great place to live.'”
